Mr. Mahtaney joined K Mohan & Company in 1975 in Mumbai, and spent 15 years learning the business from his father, the late Mr. Mohandas Mahtaney. He discovered a passion for fabrics, and travelled across India to far-flung mills to co-develop with them. His efforts led to exciting partnerships with sought-after designers such as Nicole Farhi. In 1991, he took over the business and, over a 20-year period, grew the business more than 50-fold in revenue and volume. His leadership style and vision have been key to K Mohan’s impressive growth. Under his leadership, K Mohan became unstoppable, building partnerships with brands like Gap, Nike, and Marks & Spencer, to name a few. Primarily because of his love for fabrics, Mr. Mahtaney continues to stay involved in the business and serves as an active mentor to the entire leadership team.
Ms. Mahtaney holds a BBA in Operations and Information Technology from the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, and an MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurship from Columbia Business School, New York. Since her appointment as CEO in 2012, she has played a pivotal role in leveraging the foundation set by father to position K Mohan as a globally recognized player with contemporary design practices. Under her dynamic leadership, K Mohan & Company Exports has expanded its manufacturing footprint to Bangladesh.
